Welcome
Des Moines Kiwanis
We help kids. The funds raised from our volunteer efforts support
a variety of good causes helping the children of our community.
Spearheaded by the Downtown Club, we have successfully built the very first Miracle League Field in Iowa—right downtown across from Principal Park, at 525 SW 5th Street. Managing the field is our primary service project in the community. Sixty kids with special needs played in our “exhibition season” in the fall of 2008. We had 115 kids in our spring 2009 season and nearly 150 kids in our fall 2009 season. Naturally, we ended the season with a trophy/pizza party for over 400. Plans are now underway for opening day on May 15, 2010. We KNOW that "one can make a difference", right here in central Iowa.
We meet every Wednesday starting at 11:45 a.m. at AllPlay
Des Moines, 615 3rd Street. Please consider joining us.
Kiwanis is a global organization of volunteers dedicated to changing
the world one child and one community at a time.
