K-Kids
K-Kids is the youngest and fastest growing service organization
for elementary students worldwide. These clubs are ideally suited
for students in grades 1 through 5 (ages 6 to 12).
K-Kids is a "student-led" community-service organization,
which operates under school regulations and draws its members from
the student body. K-Kids is unique because local Kiwanis clubs,
composed of leading business and professional people of the community,
sponsor it.
The K-Kids' motto is "We Build," and its objectives are:
- To provide opportunities for working together in service to
school and community
- To develop leadership potential
- To foster and development of strong moral character
- To encourage loyalty to school, community, and nation
There are approximately ten K Kids Clubs in Iowa (nearly 20 in
Nebraska) with three of those in Division 16 and sponsored by the
Downtown Club—Greenwood Elementary School, Pleasant Hill Elementary
School (organized in 2005), and Windsor Elementary School (preliminary
organization began in early 2006).
Downtown Club members provide support to our K Kids Clubs. Paul
Strayer is our club liaison to the Greenwood Club; Michelle Wall,
the Pleasant Hill Club; and Tina Potthoff and Lois Smith Underwood,
the new Windsor Elementary School Club.
